IEMA Associate Certificate in Environmental Management – Unit 2

Course Summary

The IEMA Associate Certificate in Environmental Management is designed to raise the professional competence of the environmental practitioners by assessing their knowledge and understanding of environmental practitioners by assessing their knowledge and understanding of environmental management and its application. The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical exercises providing a ‘hands on’ perspective.

Course Content

• Module 1: Environmental Sustainability
• Module 2: Environmental Legalisation
• Module 3: Assessment, Interpretation, and Management of Environmental Performance

Ways to Study

• Block Release – A structured classroom based course consisting of 5 full days
• Day Release – A structured classroom based course, attendance consists of one day per week for 12 weeks including revision and exams
• E-Learning – Allows a fresh and flexible approach to study with robust tutor support throughout the duration of the programme
• Supported Distance Learning – A more flexible non classroom based method of study which gives you responsibility for your own study time

Teaching and Assessment

The course consists of continual assessment by tutors throughout the duration of the course and an open book exam to be carried out in your own time after the course (to be returned within an agreed period – typically 3 weeks).

Entry Requirements

The IEMA Associate Certificate in Environmental Management is Unit 2 within the Professional Level Environmental Course Programme; therefore individuals wishing to sit the course must have successfully completed unit 1 – IOSH Managing Environmental Responsibilities. Candidates with a good level of environmental experience may be eligible for exemptions from Unit 1. A good command of the English language is essential.
